Setting up Rich Pins for Pinterest sounds super complicated but it’s seriously one of the simplest parts of your Pinterest account set up.

And once you do it, you don’t have to worry about it ever again ; )

Today, I’m going to show you how to set up Rich Pins on your Wordpress AND Squarespace site because you guys deserve all the love.

WHAT ARE RICH PINS?

Rich Pins add additional information directly on your Pins to give users more details and motivate them to click over to your website. They provide more details about your content before they decide to click on the Pin.

Currently, there are 4 types of Rich Pins:

  • Article - They show a headline or blog title, author (aka a link to your profile), and a blog description

  • Product - They make shopping easier by including real-time pricing, availability & where to buy your product

  • Recipe - They show an overview of your recipe including ingredients, serving size & cooking times

  • App Install- They show an install button so people can download an iOS app without leaving Pinterest

Here’s what an article Rich Pin looks like & what the elements are:

  • Blog post title

  • Pinterest username, avatar & a follow button

  • Blog post description

  • URL/ Call To Action

Step 5: Validate your Rich Pins

Go to Pinterest’s Rich Pin Validator, and plug in a link to any blog post on your site (it CANNOT be the link to your homepage).

It doesn’t matter which blog post and you only need to do one. Click “validate.”

Step 6: Apply!

After validating, you should see a message that says “your pin’s been validated!”

Then, click “apply now.” A pop up will come up with your website’s domain and “HTML tags” selected. Click “apply now” once again.

All done! Now you’ll just have to wait a couple of days max until Pinterest approves your application (they’ll email you once it’s all set!)
