How to Find the Best Group Boards in Your Niche on Pinterest

I’ve been hearing talk that group boards are dead. To that, I say NO WAY!

They might not be as effective as they used to be due to the ever-evolving world of Pinterest and the release of Tailwind Tribes, but as a Pinterest manager, I personally see awesome results with group boards to this day with all of the accounts I manage.

Of course, an effective Pinterest strategy does not only include group boards.

A solid Pinterest strategy uses group boards as a complement to your strategy to help you get in front of new users.

WHAT ARE PINTEREST GROUP BOARDS & HOW DO THEY WORK?

Group boards are boards on Pinterest that have more than one collaborator. They are communities that allow all the collaborators of the board to share their own content to the board.

Group boards are usually sorted by niche or industry and give your content increased exposure and reach.

The group owner is the one who created the board and all of the owner’s followers have access to that group board’s content.

So let’s say I create a group board called Business Tips for Creative Entrepreneurs and I have 1,000 followers on my Pinterest profile (and therefore, that board). All of my 1,000 followers will see all of the content that is posted to that group board on their feed.

This means when you join this group board, you have 1,000 new eyes who don’t follow you getting exposed to your content (pretty neat, huh?)

WHY DO YOU NEED TO BE ON PINTEREST GROUP BOARDS?

  • Increased exposure by like...the thousands. Group boards are amazing for increasing your content’s reach and getting more new eyes on your Pins since it’s giving you access to the entire pool of that group’s followers that you wouldn’t otherwise have. Increasing your reach is super important when you’re just starting out on Pinterest, so this is key!

  • Discover more high-value content. Since group boards are small communities, you’re exposed to other people in your niche who are also putting out valuable content. This allows you to easily connect with them and find new content to reshare that your target audience will find helpful.

  • Getting right in front of your dream target audience. If you’re joining the right group boards (targeted group boards directly related to your niche), chances are that your target audience is allllll up in that group board. That means that they’re getting exposed to your content & the chances of them clicking over to website increases.

3 Ways To Find the Best High-Engagement Group Boards In Your Niche on Pinterest

Pro tip: When going through these steps, keep in mind that not all group boards are open for new collaborators. If they don’t have instructions on how to join in the board description, then they’re probably not accepting new people so it’s best to move on to the next one.

METHOD 1: USING THE PINTEREST SEARCH BAR

NOTE: Group boards are identified with a round icon & 3 profile picture icon images.

1.Use the search bar on Pinterest and type in a keyword related to your niche: “[INSERT YOUR NICHE KEYWORD] group board” or just “[INSERT YOUR NICHE KEYWORD]” (for the latter, you’ll have to look a bit harder) (i.e. business group board, photography group board, etc.)

2. Switch the drop down search menu under “All Pins” to “Boards”

3. Hit Search

4. Click on the group board that aligns with your brand & read the group board description

5. Follow board leaders of boards that you want to apply to (the leader is usually the one that shows up first on the members list)
